Digital Art

Many know me as a photographer, but way before photography, I learned digital art, it was a a natural progression from *standard* art. I once was able to get a place in art college via a portfolio I had built up, but sadly due to home life, it had to be turned down. At the time computers were unknown to me, so I thought that one passion had gone.
Around 2007, I discovered paint shop pro, I was in my element, a chance to relearn art, but in a unknown format. I started with scrap pages, and as I progressed I purchased a graphic’s tablet, and went from there. I was asked to do work for others, excited at the chance, I took this up, asking for nothing in return.
As time went on, I flowed through digital art, and photography became the main focus, another passion of mine. In 2014 I set up my photography business officially. Yet digital art was my main love, but I pushed it to one side to focus on a business that would bring an income.
As the years went by, I still tried digital art, but unfortunately it was harder then I could have imagined.
Stock was hard to come by, models were difficult, as in many were fussy on how their final image came across, others didn’t understand digital art, some had bad experience with other artists, so requested their images were not touched beyond basic standard.
I finally settled, happily, but limited with fairy edits of children. Able to play, I was still unable to go full into it, as whilst some parents raved about my work, I had inboxes ripping my work, not just parents, but photographers too.
In the end I tried just photography, mixing the two, again that was torn to pieces, every chance, every photo critiqued, until I did nothing but my dance photography.
Sadly in 2018, that too had to come to an end, for reasons that are not for here.
Regardless of anything, my fingers have always itched to get back to digital art, but it was hard. Until April 2020, when I installed Sims 4 on my laptop, when I discovered Mods, When I discovered little hacks that enabled me too pose Sims avatars in my own way, when I realised I could then screen capture these people I had created, bring it into Photoshop and, well play with digital art again!
Don’t get me wrong, I tried playing Sims, but one avatar dying within 10 mins of starting a game, then another deciding enough was enough within 30 mins, I realise playing isn’t my style, so instead, I bring you these:
All edits and Sims my own, I have so much improvement to make, but considering using a laptop mouse is like using a household 5 inch paint brush to paint a delicate canvas water color…. My new dream is a graphics tablet, One day in a few years maybe!
The watermark, is my Instagram account, the name has meaning behind it, it’s time to do something for myself and ignore the haters, selfish? Maybe, but I don’t care for now.
